The reviews are out and the praise is near universal for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. The top-of-the-line Samsungs — at least until the Note gets here — will be available in shops today with prices starting at $720. For those already committed to buying, it’s going to be a tough choice this time around because the phones don’t suffer from the usual big / small usability tradeoffs.

See, the Galaxy S8 has 36 percent more viewing area than the Galaxy S7, and the screen now covers 83 percent of the front face. That’s allowed Samsung to pack more screen into a slimmer but sightly longer handset that’s now easier to hold. Whereas plus-sized phones from other companies have been unwieldy, even the S8 Plus now feels manageable.
